The purpose of the youth group is to create an environment of friendship and learning that prepares young people to be faithful Christians now and to remain faithful once they graduate high school. This is done through biblical education that stretches their minds and hearts to learn and accept what God says in His Scriptures and through activities that promote friendships and camaraderie with those of like faith.

In our Bible classes, the goal is to present the word of God to these young people as something that is possible for them to understand and that is relevant to them. Young people are often far smarter than the world gives them credit for, and that is kept in mind as Sam prepares classes to teach. We don’t water down the Bible for them, but instead we teach them to stretch and think about big ideas regarding God and the Bible so they truly grow.

The youth group is also a great way for young people who care about God to have friends their age who also care about Him.  It is emphasized to the teens that they cannot do this Christian life alone. The youth group is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of where they may go to school or what background they come from. Whether we are going on trips, having devos in members’ homes, doing other fun activities, or whatever the case may be, this is a fantastic group of young people that always has room for one more.
